Licensed Professional Counseling
Many people seek support around communication breakdowns, emotional reactivity, unresolved past experiences, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long.
Licensed professional counseling is for individuals, couples, and families who are navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship strain, and life transitions. It is for those in seasons of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or lonely.
Care is offered in a compassionate, trauma-informed environment grounded in evidence-based clinical practice. Sessions are collaborative and thoughtfully paced, honoring each person’s unique story while supporting emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and deeper understanding of patterns that shape daily life.
Over time, this work helps clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, develop healthier boundaries, and move toward greater clarity, connection, and lasting change—at a pace that feels respectful, supportive, and sustainable.
When helpful, counseling sessions can include processing tools from EFT, IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback, Splankna, and Attachment-Focused EMDR as part of your care.
Sessions are offered in person and via secure telehealth (Zoom).
Faith-Based Counseling & Spiritual Direction
Faith-based counseling and spiritual direction for individuals seeking healing, restoration, and deeper alignment between their inner life and lived experience. This work is especially supportive for those navigating spiritual wounds, ministry or church-related harm, parental or relational trauma, and seasons of disillusionment, shame, or loss of trust.
Sessions offer a gentle, grace-centered space to explore faith, meaning, and emotional healing together. Care is not denomination-specific and does not require adherence to a particular theological tradition. The focus remains on the person’s lived experience, conscience, and spiritual journey, approached with respect, curiosity, and compassion.
This approach supports a slow, respectful return to trust—within oneself, with others, and with what feels life-giving—honoring each person’s pace while fostering wholeness, clarity, and compassionate integration of faith and emotional health.
Sessions are offered in person and via secure telehealth (Zoom).
FAQs
What is the difference between Licensed Professional Counseling and Faith-Based Counseling?
Both LPC counseling and faith-based or spiritual counseling at Colorado Relationship Center are provided using professional, ethical, legal, and responsible standards of care.
LPC counseling is more firmly rooted in clinically established, evidence-based approaches, including a strong systemic and relational foundation such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Faith-based and spiritual counseling allows for greater flexibility, creating space to thoughtfully integrate the client’s personal spiritual beliefs, values, and practices. This approach honors the wide range of spiritual backgrounds clients bring, and spiritual content is always client-led, never imposed. Clients are never required to believe a particular way—spiritual care is guided by the client’s own beliefs, curiosity, and comfort level.
What is spiritual direction?
Spiritual direction is a reflective, client-centered process that helps individuals become more aware of God’s presence, movement, and invitations in their everyday lives. Rather than giving advice or doctrine, spiritual direction creates space to listen, discern, and notice where meaning, healing, or growth may be unfolding.
It is guided by the client’s own spiritual background and questions, and is offered with professional, ethical, and responsible care—without requiring adherence to any particular belief system.
How do I choose between Licensed Professional or Faith-based counseling?
The choice depends on your goals, preferences, and what feels most supportive right now. Licensed Professional Counseling is often a good fit when you’re seeking structured, evidence-based support for emotional, relational, or mental health concerns.
Faith-based counseling may be a better fit if you want space to explore those same concerns while also integrating your spiritual values, questions, or experiences. Both options are offered with professional, ethical, and responsible care, and you are not required to have specific beliefs to receive faith-based support.
If you’re unsure, we can help you discern the best fit during an initial consultation, and your care can always be adjusted as your needs become clearer.
Do you integrate or faith or spirituality in every session?
Faith or spirituality is only integrated when it is invited by the client and aligned with their values, comfort level, and goals. Many clients choose counseling that is entirely clinically focused, while others find it helpful to include spiritual reflection as part of their care. Some clients prefer to not include it at all to which is welcome.
You are always in control of how much—or how little—spiritual content is included, and this can change over time as your needs evolve.
How will I know if this is a good fit?
A good fit is one where you feel safe, respected, and understood. In early sessions, we’ll pay attention to whether the pace, approach, and focus of the work feel supportive and aligned with your goals.
It’s normal to take a few sessions to discern fit, and you’re always free to ask questions, give feedback, or explore adjustments. If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll talk openly and help you consider next steps that best support your care.
Are all session confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential and handled in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards. Your privacy is taken seriously, and information is not shared without your consent.
There are limited exceptions required by law, such as concerns about immediate safety, abuse, or court orders. These limits to confidentiality will be reviewed clearly at the start of care so there are no surprises.
Am I required to engage for a predetermined number of sessions?
You are not required to commit to a set number of sessions. The length and frequency of care are guided by your goals, needs, and preferences. Some clients come for short-term support, while others choose ongoing care. You are always free to pause, continue, or adjust your engagement as your needs change.
